Ally and Portia met in tech school for the Air Force in 2003. They were roommates, and quickly became best friends. Their friendship has grown over the past 22 years into an unbreakable bond.

Nicole and Portia met when they were living in Destin, Florida in 2009. Portia was Department of Defense, and Nicole was Air Force Reserve. They instantly became best friends and it became very rare to see one without the other. The whole room can't help but laugh when these two are together. Their fun natured chemistry is contagious.

Araceli is Nick's oldest daughter. The relationship Araceli and Portia have formed over the past 6 years is a beautiful bond that can't be described by words. They can talk for hours like old friends. Although Araceli moved out on her own shortly after we all moved in together as a family, you can still see a lot of Portia's influence on who Araceli is today, and vice versa. Araceli's confident and fun loving energy can transform any room, and is missed when she is gone.

When Nick and Portia first started dating, Portia immediately hit it off with Norah, Nick's middle child. From late night talks in Norah's room, to hitting the gym together, it was obvious these two needed each other. They understood each other and saw each other in a way nobody else did at the time. You can tell these two were a part of each others healing journeys. Portia often mentions how much she misses Norah and her big heart.
